Another beautiful day

I know I'm asking for trouble with a title like that, lol. But sometimes I really like Seattle even though I can't stand the traffic and the way it's spread out like someone smeared icing on hot cake, with little pockets of high density and big swaths of green.

But today? It's 70 degrees, the sky is a cloudless turquoise, the trees are postcard perfect. There are two hawks riding the thermals out over the quarry, a couple of Stellar Jays and Oregon juncos checking out my neighbor's bird feeders, and flowers everywhere--not that I have to grow them or anything because for some reason even the weeds in WA are gorgeous. Big, feathery lavender plumes that look like bottle cleaners and brilliant orange poppies. And...there's a light breeze.

I have the next three days off. Plenty of time to catch up on things and finish out projects--start writing part two of core events, "Using Core Events to Create Story Points"--and maybe grill some ribs.

I bought this two pack--seriously, a two pack--of ribs just before the fourth of July for six dollars over at Safeway. It was soooo cheap and I didn't have freezer space. I could kick myself for not buying another pack and chopping it into pieces.
That's part one. My family can't eat a whole rack, lol. Those silver things under the rack are potatoes, because I hate wasting a good fire.

A close up shot?

Hmmm....I didn't get a chance to grill for the fourth, since I had to work. This will do. :)

Oh, now that looks delicious. We did the steak/cook out thing a day or so before the fourth.

Mom baked a turtle cheesecake with a layer of caramel over the crust then chilled it. I had a hot butcher knife to cut it, and we all prayed as we ate that no one would lose teeth in it. lol

Glad to see you enjoying a few minutes of down time anyway. ;)

lol, everytime I see the "word" caramel, I hope I don't lose teeth. I have few enough as it is. Stupid soda-habit.

I had to work for the fourth. *sigh* But it sounds like you had a good one. :)

Mid-80s down here after some scorchers last week. Those ribs look good.

Enjoy your next few days off!

lol--caffeine headache. *sigh* But it's gone now. Glad it's cooling down for you, though. :)
