up, up up...

I love the mountains. I always have, which is probably why my "Hawaii" book is about mountains, not beaches. My favorite small town is Cashmere, not just for the incredible Craftsman bungalows and time-capsule perfect Sears homes, but for the Aplets and Cotlets factory (I'll admit--I'm a fan, I love Turkish delight...) and the Sure to Rise bakery.

It's half artisan bakery--bread shaped like rabbits? And half cookie bazaar.

Every time I go I find new cookies to try. Everything is wonderful. The maple bars, the cream cheese pastry and elephant ears. This time she had red, white and blue divinity, fruit bars, and walnut cookies. Gingerbread men with fat raisin eyes, and little tarts oozing with apples and cherries.

I love the drive--miles of Rainer cherry trees and fruit stands. I can't wait for the pears to come in.

You've got my mouth watering again. First jerky, now cookies. What next?

Looks like an awesome little shop. I miss that smaller town personal feel. No pictures of the bunny bread?

I have no clue Alice, but part of it has to do with asking people if it's okay to take pictures. lol, Kaige--I was pushing the woman to take the cookie case, I kind of figured the bunny bread was not as high up on my list.

Walking--cold--into a place and saying, "hi there, I'd like to take pictures in here..." is...uh, hard is a good word. (I didn't buy bunny bread. The bows were pink, and my daughter likes black)

Understandable. I mean what kind of people walk in off the street and want take photos of bunny bread and request that the bows be changed to black instead of a nice innocuous pink. ;)

You could always change the bow at home.

Ooh, when do the pears come in? I love oozing bakery as well. That red, white, and blue divinity sounds captivating.
