Business cards, swag and OCD behavior

I'm going to RWA in a few months. I should pay more attention since I enjoyed ATL. Maybe I "listed" it to death. I'm OCD that way. If I don't know, I find out. I have maps and gizmos, gadgets and whozits galore, just like in the Little Mermaid. I can usually fake my way through an airport, or down a street, because I'm the master of Google maps. Lot of info on those satellite pictures. It's why I'm at the Mosser, because I kept saying, hey--that's not right. The arrow is pointing to the Marriot. Stupid Google maps.

I called, and the desk clerk said, "well, if you cross the street..."

Right.

As I cross with my swag, all geared for people like me--"non" bookmark-users--I'll be thanking Cowboy. He did a run of business cards, all logo'd and spiffy. Just like my site. Truly a work of art. The man is a genius.

The new updates make it (me, lol) look even better. My kid said, "But, mom--you don't look like a romance writer..." Guess I don't. But I'm growing there, lol.

OCD.

*sigh*

I have these triggers, uhm...which I thought I knew. Like Sun Tzu said, "dissect yourself", okay, maybe he didn't say that, but I know I'm not good with orders, a leetle--just a leetle, mine you--on the overbearing side. But on average, I'm easy to get along with. I'm too damned old. That whole red-eyed anger, up in your face thing has died down, (stop laughing, Cowboy. I mean it...).

What I really hate is when I try to be nice, non-confrontational, and polite. And have other people all up in my face. I mean, wow--if you can't stand me, put me on your ignore list.

I promise, I'll return the favor.

I actually get in people's faces a lot more now than I did when I was younger. More confidence, I think. Or maybe less patience.

So what do romance writers look like? I stopped paying attention after Jacquline Susan.

Yeah, I'm with Jenna. What do romance writers look like?

Jennifer Wilde was a man and I have all of his books.

Laura London is a husband-and-wife team and I have all their books, too.

Who's thumbing their nose at you? Who's paying such close attention? Consider it a compliment. Even Bambi had enemies, Jodi Girl.

lol--I have many enemies. Less so now that I'm not so corporate. Nothing like a job to get the old adrenaline running. Like that book, Swim with the Sharks.

Oh, just stuff, Unhingey. People are weird sometimes.

My mom says all romance writers are fat and have armpit roll. Sometimes they dress in floaty chiffon, and tend to wave their arms around.

My son says all romance writers are fat, have belly roll, and dress badly. The common thread is fat.

:) Hey!! stop looking at me.

Gaspa!

Your son is wrong.

Stereotypes don't exist in today world. Tell 'em. Who broke the mold?

Many people. Your hero. My hero. Her hero, his hero.

But yes. I agree people are weird, unpredictable, surprising, inspiring and sometimes disappointing. Heartbreaking and real.

That's where we writers come in. Somehow, a writer helps make sense of living for others, and provides a sense of familiarity. Of belonging. Of not feeling alone. It's not intentional, it just happens. And thank God it does.

Body fat doesn't even matter in this kind of equation.

And here I was thinking Romance writers were um... full bodied. Mostly. Except the ones who aren't, of course.

Floaty Chiffon would be a good name for a band.

hmm, who are you prowd? Someone named Morgan, obviously--hmmm, don't know any morgans. Unless you're a morgaine...

You know me, but I like you, don't want my family to read my stuff, so for now I'll stick to being Morgan. I am going to buy your book though and can't wait to read it.
