The trouble with short hair and multiple personalities

I have short hair. I used to have long hair, but it kept getting clogged in the tub, and I realized--about ten years ago--that being old and having long hair doesn't mean you're going to look like Katherine Hepburn. I looked like I needed Quentin from "What Not to Wear".

So I cut it off, and as the years passed--it kept getting shorter and shorter. Although living in a Southern state, when I'd go to get a cut the stylist would always say things like, "honey, you KNOW you don't want to go that short. It'd look like a mullet." (maybe they were having visions of Billy Bob, 'cause I know I was thinking NY bob and they were thinking fluffy on top) So I started to say stuff like, "well, could you just layer it? Chunky layers? (I figured anyone could understand chunky layers. And I was WRONG)" I usually walked out looking like Dorothy Hamil because after a cut and blow-dry with the big round brushes and me whining, "but...really, all I want is for you to leave it wet and run some texture stuff through there..." I kept having visions of looking like one of the "Golden Girls". *shudder* Show me a round brush--I'll run in the other direction.

But I finally found a stylist who understood me--where the HELL did she come from? Did a gorgeous hair cut, and vanished into the ether. *sigh* I want my stylist back. I'm starting to look like a mushroom.

It's like having the cut of my dreams sync'ed with my split personality. I looked on the outside--like I thought I looked on the inside. Now I'm back to "nice person and mom". Cowboy says it's camouflage. And he's probably right.

I hear you. A good hair stylist is GOLD.
I have one, but I don't always have the money to plunk down for it.
The one thing I do know. I don't cut my own.
She REAMED me the last time I did. LOL.

I think I've already said too much about hair:

And yes, it's natural

Most of the stylists I've gone to drown my hair with products, even though I tell them I have baby fine hair, and gravity pushes it flat at the same time the humidity makes my hair go every which way. So I'm always flatly wild. Or, wildly flat.

This is why I like hats. They make my head itchith, but they hide-ith the dead cell horra on top of my head!

lol--the dandruff???

I wear a hat ALL the time. It hide-ith the bald spot I'm getting from wearing a hat...

NOT dandruff, woman!

My flat hair. I don't look normal with flat hair. But a hat gives me just right right amount of oomph.
